I’m running for Tampere City Council and Pirkanmaa County Council as a National Coalition Party candidate.
I’m Arttu, a 29-year-old deputy city councillor, news journalist and law student, born and raised in Tampere. My educational background is master’s degree in social sciences. Previously I have worked in the European Parliament and obtained experience from politics and volunteering activites.
I’m running for office because I want to continue working for an open and future-looking Tampere.
Tampere must be an attractive place to work and do business in. Financing the deficit with more debt or tax increases is not a sustainable solution. Let's focus on the municipality's core tasks, listen to experts in decision-making, and work to put the municipal economy on a healthy foundation.
Investments to education and mental health services pay off in long term. Bullying in schools must be tackled more strictly, and young people's access to education must not be restricted by insufficient high school places. The mental health crisis needs decisive action, in prevention as well as hastening the access to care.
A growing city shouldn’t dwell on the past. Instead, we should build a denser and more beautiful city, where getting around is easy and the nature is also cherished. Let’s invest in environmentally friendly rail transport and take into account the housing needs of families, students and single people. Building more is the best solution to housing affordability.
